2013 Armada TST Review - Playful All-Mountain Ski

The Armada TST all mountain ski is a playful performer, but it's not a one-trick pony. A lot of skis that place a premium on turny, surfy skiing don't necessarily give you the confidence to rail on firm snow, but the Armada TST accomplishes this with a unique shape.

Using the Armada JJ's rockered and tapered tip for quick turn initiation, excellent float in powder and great planing over crud, combined with a 102 mm waist, this is a great powder ski for lighter skiers or those who don't want to go super wide. But full camber underfoot with no rocker in the tail (just a slight twin to make it easier to release out of a turn) means its happy in firmer snow conditions, even carving turns down groomers when mother nature hasn't provided new powder to play with.

It's not a hard-charging ski in the all-mountain category, but its a solid contender for a "quiver of one" ski in western higher snowfall areas like Colorado, Utah, Tahoe and the Northwest.

Sierra Jim enjoyed these skis so much testing them at Mammoth Mountain they convinced him to bring Armada into the shop for 2012/13. Here's what he had to say:

Freeskier Magazine testers put it this way: "Carve your way off the groomers, into the crud, and pop a 360 into infinity," and "It's the perfect combo of Armada technology."

As a bonus, a portion of the proceeds of this ski are donated to the Travis Streeger Memorial Fund and Avalanche Awareness Beyond the Boundaries Society, which gives free avalanche training to youth.
