Boot Fitting

Ski Bootfitting Overview

Ski Bootfitting Overview

Everyone's feet are different and we approach each fitting with that in mind. Each customer receives personalized attention during the fitting process and is fitted with the boot that best matches them first - with adjustments made from there. The fitting process focuses on understanding the skier's goals and assessing foot mechanics, prioritizing fit and function over aesthetics. Adults can expect appointments for new boots to last two hours, while junior appointments typically last one hour.

Challenging foot problems? Flat arches? Wide feet and low instep? We got you covered with a wide array of customization options. Custom footbeds, a key element of the fit, are discussed before trying on boots. Customers can select from tailored options, and our shop's advanced equipment ensures a precise, customized fit for even the most challenging feet.

Let's go peak comfort and performance! A refit or boot adjustment is often necessary during a skier's journey (and break in) with their boots. Whether it's a new pair not breaking in well, a footbed causing discomfort, or specific tweaks needed for race or touring boots, we will work with you on refits and adjustments. Our expert team handles everything from grinding race boots to punching touring boots for better fit—even addressing issues like those pesky bunions (and the dreaded sixth toe.. if you know, you know) after an intense backcountry season. Book a one-hour appointment with us, and we’ll ensure your boots fit perfectly, so you can get back out there and skiing pain-free.

Yeah, that's right! All boots purchased and fitted here at Start Haus come with our bootfit guarantee. For the first year you own the boots you'll receive free follow up fittings and adjustments. And our online appointment system makes it easy so you never have to wait in line. Make your follow up adjustments appointment online. Plus, we work on boots year-round!

We sell a limited assortment of backcountry/AT boots along with 'hybrid' boots from Tecnica and Atomic. Plus we work on fit adjustments for any type of ski boot, including backcountry boots purchased elsewhere.

Our bootfittings services also include Nordic! While we do not sell Nordic boots at the shop, we make custom footbeds regularly for Nordic boots and can make modifications to the boot itself.
