Bootfitter's Notes - Atomic Redster Pro 110
Looking for a narrow ski boot that steers like a Porsche? The Atomic Redster Pro 110 may just be the boot you have been looking for. From fit to function the Redster is a full package aggressive all-mountain ski boot.
Atomic gave the Redster the exact same look as its narrower, more aggressive cousin; the Redster World Cup. The wider pro is a lot friendlier to get in and may have been misappropriated as a “race boot” by fitters and skiing public alike. However, the Redster Pro has a way more mellow fit, but still skis like a boot made by a top racing brand.
After spending a good amount of time in the Redster Pro I really like the fit. I’m working with a “c” width foot, but have a low volume ankle ankles and chicken legs skinnier than those found at the end of a Safeway aisle. Heel hold is very good, and the ankle pocket is quite agreeable. It essentially is an excellent out of the box fit for my foot, combing comfort and performance.
The forefoot is a bit more open than many of the other models in the category, making it one of the more comfortable 98 mm Atomic boots made. If your foot is the thinnest of thin, you may want to look at the WC or different brand entirely. The Redster is also forgiving on the instep.
The forward lean of the Redster is fairly high compared to competitive models in the market, which could be problematic for someone used to a more upright stance, those who have are skiing a boot a few years old will probably not notice a difference at all.
Construction of the Redster Pro is mainly biased toward groomed snow ripping, however the aggressive expert used to a precise boot will have no problem ripping the Redster in the pow as well. Be warned though, with a healthy amount of forward lean and such a laterally snappy boot on your feet you won’t want to make too many mistakes.
Carbon fiber is introduced into the plastic in the injection process creating a snappy responsive boot that responds dynamically to the movements of the leg. This is by no means a dead unresponsive boot, this thing rips.
