Bootfitter's Notes: Head Adapt Edge LTD

The Head Adapt Edge LTD is a fairly wide-fitting ski 110 flex boot that will stand up to the advanced skier. At the Start Haus, the Adapt Edge LTD has become a go-to boot for those with wide feet and a high instep, or both.

The last couple of years the Adapt Edge has earned a valued spot in our boot stable as a got to fit option for those truly high volume feet, with a caveat; this boot skis well also.

For years the industry has made high volume boot that fit comfortably enough, however, the skied like a card board box and steered like a twenty-foot yacht.

The Adapt Edge LTD combines comfort for those with the big hoof. But also the performance we demand of our products at the Start Haus.

As one would expect form a high volume boot, the Adapt Edge is generous in the toe box, over the top of the foot (the instep) and in the forefoot width.

The key to the steering of the Adapt Edge comes from a couple of places, the heel pocket is solid, it fits well the liner is padded nicely in that area, creating a snug fit zone without being painful.

A snug heel pocket keeps the heel locked down giving the skier a stable platform to stand on and flex into the turn. The 110 flex is nice and progressive. The boot flexes smooth until reaching the stopping point and is at no time blocky or awkward.

The combination of good snug heel pocket and progressive smooth flex creates a boot that skis well in all areas of the mountain and snow condition.

The out of the box canting is right on the money for my fairly average symmetry, and offers a fairly wide range of cuff alignment.

The Adapt Edge has a unique cam unit that will simply allow the bootfitter or boot owner to open the width of the boot further taking it from a last of 100-102 mm.

An Allen key opens the cam widening the entire shell at the forefoot and can be open and closed and unlimited number of times.

To sum up: the Head Adapt Edge LTD is a prime choice for skiers with wide feet that have trouble getting into “medium width boot”.

The Adapt Edge LTD fits generous but not loose for most athletes, and also skis well.  As far as a high volume boot is concerned we are extraordinarily happy with how well the Head Adapt Edge skis in comparison to other boots in the category.

Head has worked hard to put anatomical shape in the shell and liner of the boot creating a boot the fits well and skis great too.
