K2 Sideseth Review - The Obsethed Made Better
K2 Ski's Seth Morrison pro model skis have been long-standing favorites from the Seth Pistols to the Obsethed, and now K2 has created the Sideseth the latest iteration - and we think it's the best yet.
The K2 Sideseth has a similar tip rocker profile to last year's K2 Obsethed; low and gradual starting way down the ski - not too far forward of the front of the binding, for tons of float in powder.
Add in a 118 mm waist width, and you know it's going to be a fantastic powder ski - there's no question.
But as the man himself, Seth Morrison, spends more time in the big mountains of Chamonix, the ski has evolved with him to tackle more variable conditions. Less rocker in the tail and a slightly stiffer flex make this ski hold an edge better than its predecessor.
And a lighter weight, along with tip and tail holes for climbing skins, make this a fully capable backcountry ski.
Here is Sierra Jim's video review where he talks about the ski and shows you the Sideseth's rocker profile:
Sierra Jim said this about the K2 Sideseth in his Start Haus review:
"To my taste, this is the best ski of the Seth Morrison lineage. There is enough stiffness for it to be stable in the rough stuff and the new rocker profile has a nice balance to it that enables the ski to plane well ... Big mountain skiers with a fair bit of aggressiveness will find the new Sideseth much more to their liking that the softer versions of the past." (read the whole K2 Sideseth Review here)
Our web editor, Greyson, also tested these skis after a year on the previous K2 Obsethed.
"The Sideseth gives nothing up from the Obsethed in the powder and crud, but holds an edge better on firm snow when you're railing back down to the lift. Definitely one of the best skis in this category that I tested."
