Start Haus Ski News

We’re starting a weekly post here at the Start Haus to bring you all the Tahoe ski news you need. We’ll post up racing info, Tahoe ski events, wax calls, ski deals and more here every Friday.

Today Alpine Meadows joins Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Boreal, North Star, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose and Sierra at Tahoe on the list of open Lake Tahoe Resorts, and the conditions are great! It may have rained down low in the last storm, but serious base-building snow stacked up high, making for a great start to the season.

Our crew has been busy out testing new 2013 ski equipment with all the new snow, and we're starting a new contest "Find Phil on the Hill." We'll post what Phil will be wearing and where he's skiing on our Facebook page, and the first 2 people to find him will get prizes!

Looking at the racing calendar, Far West Masters start off locally at Squaw Valley on Dec. 15 and 16, go to farwestmasters.org for more info.
Far West U12 and U14 will be racing at Auburn Ski Club/Boreal on Dec. 15-16 as well, more information at www.fwskiing.us.

If you're interested in getting into backcountry skiing, Squaw Valley is offering a women's avalanche clinic on Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sugar Bowl starts an AIARE Avalanche Level 1 three day course on Saturday as well.

Looking for the mythical "Tahoe Quiver of One Ski?" How bout for $299? We've got a few 2012 Salomon Sentinels left, get them before they're gone.

It’s important to shop early this season – especially for race ski equipment – supplies will be very limited this season thanks to last year’s slow season and the European economy. Some manufacturers are already sold out with no stock more available.

Want to know what other people think about the Start Haus? Here's what pro skier Daron Rahlves has to say:
"The Start Haus dials in my gear and has the best product for the serious racer to the free ski freak. I fit both those profiles so, I take my skis to get mounted, set up with a fast grind and get my boot work including insoles and liner work for that custom fit and performance. I like checking in with their shop crew for the latest technical news. They know skiing. I have confidence that everything I need is set up just the way I like it. Not only are they a ski and boot shop, but they carry the best product and have the knowledge to fit each customer to their ski gear. i drop in weekly just to say hi and slap some fives. It's good to know the Start Haus Crew!"

Don't forget to send your race, ski event or results to website@starthaus.com. with the headline: Tahoe Ski News to get them listed here each week.
