In ski race and competition news, the big event  this weekend is the Rahlves Banzai Tour of course! Kicking off at Kirkwood, Saturday & Sunday, the Banzai Tour pits 4 skiers or snowboarders head to head, top of the mountain to the bottom. Go to the Rahlves Banzai Tour website for more information.

USSA Far West Skiing U10/U12 continues with the North Series at Squaw Valley on Feb 2-3, Divisional FIS for SR-U18 goes to Sugar Bowl Feb 2-4, and Tahoe League racing continues Feb 2-3 at Alpine Meadows.

For competitors in these events, our wax call is Holmenkol: Hybrid Yellow or Alpha with BW25, Toko: HF Red/Yellow, HF Black additive, Dominator: Race Zoom Old Snow, SRB32, Overlay Race Rocket Old, butter Overlay 2nd Run, Swix: HF8/10 1:1, HF8BW/10 1:1, or LF8/10.

Meet the Start Haus Staff

Quincy Young

Quincy, a salesperson and assistant buyer at the Start Haus, grew up ski racing at Squaw Valley. A Junior Olympic Champion, she raced at University of Nevada, Reno and came in 5th All American in Slalom in 2004. She is also a ski coach, working with junior racers for 5 years. Her Masters Degree is in Sports Psychology, with the intent to help racers get the most out of their abilities. You might have spotted her in various ski magazines and ski movies. Her favorite ski? The Dynastar Cham 97.
