Start Haus Ski News - March 29

Welcome to the Start Haus’ Tahoe Ski News blog!  We’ve got all the latest on ski racing & competition, the best ski deals, wax calls and other Tahoe ski related news.

Send your race, ski event or results to website@starthaus.com. with the headline: Tahoe Ski News to get them listed here each week.

The big news at the Start Haus is ski sale season! We have huge sales in store and online, so don't miss out on getting a great pair of skis, boots, bindings or some sweet new ski clothing while it's deeply discounted, because it won't last.

While winter gear is flying off the shelves, we're also stocking up for summer, with stand up paddle boards for sale and for rental from Boga, paddles from Werner, PFDs and other summer accessories.

If non of our deeply discounted skis catch your eye, check out what's in store for next winter with our 2014 ski reviews. There's a lot to be excited about next winter, and our testers have been hard at work picking out the best for our ski wall next season.

Tahoe Ski Racing News

On the Far West Skiing calendar, U10 and U12 championships take place at Squaw Valley March 28-31, U14 championships are held at Sugar Bowl April 4-7 and SR, U21, 18, and 16 head to Diamond Peak for FW finals on April 6-7.

Wax call

For Far West Skiing, Inc U10/U12 Championships this weekend Squaw Valley: Start with Dominator Wax Anti Stat Warm Old Snow, rub down dry, then apply Dominator Race Zoom Old Snow or any equivalent Red wax from HOLMENKOLSwix, Toko, or Dominator. Bring Dominator Butter rub on for second run if water is perking through the snow.
Remember these are 8,9,10 and 11-year-olds. At this age, more time can be shaved with a great push out of the start, versus any wax application so don't go too crazy!

Tahoe Ski Resort News

At Alpine Meadows, little rippers head to the park in the Snowbomb Lil Air, and backcountry skiers get a unique Easter event with Beacon & Eggs this weekend. The amazing Pain McShlonkey happens at Squaw Valley on Saturday, and Sugar Bowl hosts Shred the Love.
