Featured Bike Choice: The All-New 2026 Ibis Oso

A standout option for this year’s winner is the brand-new Ibis Oso electric mountain bike. The Oso is truly three bikes in one, offering a modular frame that can be configured, allowing you to choose your travel length, wheel size, and chainstay length to perfectly match the terrain here in Truckee and Tahoe. It is a game-changer for those who want to go further, climb faster, and descend with total confidence. Built around the powerful and reliable Bosch CX 5 motor, the Oso delivers smooth, natural-feeling power with a 600Wh battery positioned low in the frame for exceptional handling. If you’re looking to push your boundaries, the platform also supports the 250Wh PowerMore range extender for a massive 850Wh total capacity.

Donate & Support Your Local Truckee / Tahoe Trails

Truckee Dirt Union (TDU) is dedicated to enhancing and expanding the mountain biking experience here in Truckee and the greater Tahoe region. Their motto, "singletrack radness," truly embodies their mission: to cultivate responsible and enjoyable mountain bike recreation through community cultivation, stewardship, and advocacy. Crucially, funding Truckee Dirt Union directly translates into more miles of singletrack and better local trails for everyone to enjoy.

TDU actively works to maintain existing trails, like portions of the popular Donkey Town network, just pedal strokes from the Start Haus shop, ensuring they remain safe, sustainable, and fun for riders. Beyond maintenance, they are champions for the development of new, intentionally built trails that cater to all skill levels, from beginner-friendly flow trails to more advanced technical challenges. These projects involve everything from initial planning and design to securing necessary permits, environmental reviews, and the actual construction – often a significant undertaking that requires substantial resources. By organizing dedicated volunteer trail days and fostering a strong community of riders, TDU leverages both financial contributions and hands-on effort.

Your support helps them purchase essential tools, operate heavy machinery, cover the costs of skilled trail builders, and navigate the complex process of turning a vision for new trails into a reality on the ground. Ultimately, TDU plays a vital role in ensuring Truckee and Tahoe remain world-class destinations for mountain biking, all while promoting sustainability, responsible land use, and vibrant community involvement through the power of trails.
