Join world-renowned ski racer Travis Ganong and Start Haus lead tech Brandon Sims for an evening of ski tech and tuning. Hear directly from Ganong on how he wants his ski to be teched for a World Cup race as Sims explains his philosophy for tuning skis for race day based on conditions and the athlete. The event, hosted at Start Haus, is free and open to the public. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be recorded and live-streamed on the Start Haus website.

Welcome to the team Travis!

We are thrilled to announce a partnership with world-renowned ski race athlete, and Tahoe local, Travis Ganong. This partnership upholds our goal of supporting local athletes and our commitment to providing the best ski and bootfitting services in the Tahoe area. From the casual skier to the elite competitor, everyone deserves to slide on snow with skis and boots that fit them and maximize their day on the mountain. 

In addition, this partnership provides an opportunity for us to share our passion for snowsports with the local community. We've collaborated with Travis to host a four-date event series this winter. Several of the planned events will include a live stream on our website allowing you to tune in from anywhere. See details below.

Join Dames of Dirt for an intermediate ladies ride on Tuesday AUGUST 22 starting from the shop! Meet at Start Haus at 5PM. Wheels up at 5:15PM to accommodate the shuttle.

The Dames will ride Donner Lake Rim Trail (Castle Valley & Johnson Canyon). Expect some climbing, a bit of chonk, & big views.

The shuttle will be first come first served (first 15 ppl), & will run from Start Haus to the Boreal exit on 1-80. If we run out of space, the Dames can coordinate additional shuttles with available cars. Please come prepared with the necessary tools & fuels! The trail ends on the West end of Donner Lake, & we will ride back to the shop from there. Bike lights & hi-vis clothing are recommended for this section. Post-ride ice cream or dock hangs may be in order.

We are excited to announce that we are now an Aventon eBike dealer!

Aventon was created with the mantra of enabling people to find happiness through motion. When they started producing bikes in 2013 their focus was on the fixie which shifted to the electric bike market in 2018. Now their fleet boasts something for everyone from lightweight models to all-terrain ebikes providing a little something for everyone.

On Tuesday, June 27 the shop will be closed due to our parking lot being repaved. While we never like to close the shop, being open when repaving is happening is a very unpleasant experience for both our employees and customers... trust us, we've tried.

Thank you for your understanding! We will reopen with regular hours on Wednesday, June 28.

In celebration of the 4th of July, the shop will also be closed on Tuesday, July 4. Ski, paddle, pedal, there are so many options in Tahoe this year, we hope you can get outside and enjoy the holiday too! We will reopen on Wednesday, July 5 with regular hours.

Salsa is made with the idea that adventure makes life better. Their mission is to make the best bikes possible and provide accessories for adventure. And we are excited to adventure with them!

In stock and ready to rip! The Salsa Blackthorn C 1.2 SLX and Salsa Cutthroat GRX 600 Gravel are both at the shop and fully built. Swing by to see them in person and hop on them for a test pedal in our parking lot.

Join our first women's group ride of the season on Wednesday, June 7! Meet at the shop at 5 pm and roll-out shortly after. The group will head to the Jackass Trail network with details discussed before the ride. Afterward, head to Donner Creek Brewing for a drink, located in the same parking lot as Start Haus.

A huge shout-out to Truckee Dirt Union for all of the work they put into our local trails. Support the non-profit by donating via their website or volunteering during one of their dig days.

NUKEPROOF BIKES

We've got singletrack on our minds and have been itching to report what we've been working on these past few months. While you've had your head down shoveling we've had our heads in a new brand partnership (ok ok.. we were shoveling between that too).

We are thrilled to announce we are an official dealer of Nukeproof Bikes! Designed and developed in Belfast, with input from riders and team members from around the world, we cannot be more excited to offer their lineup of bikes to you!

In-shop and ready-to-ride models include the Megawatt Elite, Mega Factory Carbon and the Reactor Comp. Builds are stacked with Shimano components and all ride on 29" wheels. Research all the goodies on our website, give us all call to chat on the phone or better yet, swing on by so we can show off our new brand!

Just announced! The NEW Giant Trance X AdvancedE+Elite2 electric mountain bike is now available at Start Haus! We are drooling over this bike's battery efficiency, overall weight (42 to 44lbs) and ability to ride with a fully powered Class 2 motor with 85Nm of torque.

Not quite sure what all that means? Basically Giant built this bike with a battery that is smaller and lighter but lasts just as long and has just as much power as other batteries out there. We are talking 5-10 lbs lighter.

In addition to its battery efficiencies, it's a mixed-wheel bike (27.5" in the rear and 29' in the front) and is packed with top-of-the-line components.

THIS WINTER RIVALS TAHOE'S DEEPEST SNOWPACK SET IN 1983

Our shovels haven't stopped shoveling and our skis haven't stopped skiing. This winter has been one for the books. More and more facts are coming out about our record setting winter and we are in awe of experiencing it first hand.

Big snow means more skiing! Palisades Tahoe announced they will be open through Memorial Day and Sugar Bowl has extended it's closing day to April 23.
