We're absolutely thrilled to share the news: We are officially opening the doors to our brand-new flagship store on July 18 and invite you to celebrate this milestone with us on August 2!
Note: We will be closed July 14 through 17 as we make the move from the old location to the new one. Come by the new shop starting July 18!
Our new home is a state-of-the-art, 5,600 sq. ft. facility, conveniently located right off Highway 89 and Interstate 80 at 11351 Hwy 89 in Truckee, California. What does that mean for you? It means we've more than doubled our retail space and significantly enhanced our capacity to serve all bikers and skiers across the Tahoe region.
The vision for this new building started in 2019, with construction kicking off in 2024. Moving into this purpose-built location allows us to be even more accessible to Highway 89, and it truly lets us expand everything we offer – from an enhanced retail floor to top-notch bike and ski service capabilities. One of the highlights we're particularly excited about is the integration of our new, cutting-edge, Wintersteiger Jupiter tuning machine. This machine provides a precise and consistent tune for edge grinding, base grinding, and structuring, often exceeding factory specifications. This new piece of equipment cements our reputation for world-class ski and snowboard service, and we know you'll notice the difference!

Coffee & Pastries: 8am to 10am provided by Start Haus
First 25 People Receive a Custom Hat: The first 25 people to come by the shop and buy 5 raffle tickets on Saturday, Aug 2 receive a free custom Start Haus hat! (More on the raffle below.)
Live DJ: Enjoy beats by DJ RAZL from 12-3.
Local Flavors: Come hungry! Truckee Dirt Union will be whipping up tacos between 12-3pm
Group Mountain Bike Rides: For all of you eager to get out there on two wheels, we'll have guided group rides throughout the day including gravel rides, women’s specific rides and we will be running mountain bike shuttles with the ability to pedal back to the shop.
Ladies Mountain Bike Ride: A beginner/intermediate Jellystone or Jackass Lap led by four-time US National Champion and a four-time North American "Nor-Am" Cup Champion, Lila Lapanja. Meet at 9:30am, ride starts at 10am.
Gravel Ride: An intermediate gravel route led by Start Haus employee, Jeremy Bell. Meet at 8:30, ride starts at 9am.
Mountain Bike Shuttle: A free shuttle up to Donner Summit, provided by Dirt Gypsy Adventures, for a point to point ride back to the shop. RSVP is required and can be made online here. Meet at 9am, vans depart at 9:30am.
Ski Consignment Sale Drop-Off: Get a head start on preparing for winter! We'll be accepting skis for our highly anticipated annual Ski Consignment Sale (which is taking place Labor Day Weekend, August 29 - August 31, 2025) directly at our Grand Opening Event. Win Your Dream Bike: In efforts to support the fantastic trailbuilding in our area, and in celebration of our New Flagship Store Grand Opening, we are excited to raffle off a top-tier Ibis bike (Winners Choice!)
