Squaw is starting to make some decent progress on their snowmaking!

It's been pretty warm the last few days. Not ideal at all for making snow, but still Squaw has some decent piles taking shape.  I went on a mountain bike ride up and across the Western States trail and was able to check out the progress on Squaw Creek, Red Dog, and the beginner area at Snow Ventures.

The 2013 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships are going on now at Squaw Valley (March 20-24), get out and watch world-class racing action, featuring home-town favorites like Julia Mancuso, Marco Sullivan and Travis Ganong.

Once again, the Start Haus won "Best Backshop, Bootfitting" from Skiing Business at the SIA Tradeshow in Denver last weekend - way to go Jim, Doug, JD, Nate, James, Jason, and the rest of the boot fitting crew!

Start Haus Owner and America's Best Bootfitter Instructor Jim Schaffner said the award reflects the entire bootfitting staff's ability to offer the same cutting edge boot fitting service to every customer.

"Every shop has a guy that's good, but we have a whole team," Schaffner said. "No matter who you work with in the boot fitting room, we have a consistent protocol that guarantees a great fit - from what questions we ask to how we assess the foot and lower leg."

The 2013 Rahlves Banzai Tour started off with a bang - competitors went big on a great top-to-bottom course for all out racing action.
